Nothing is certain but death, taxes, and Joon bursting into tears in the middle of a conversation, so Ethan really had no reason to be caught off guard by the crying... but here he was, staring at her like a deer in the headlights. At least for a few seconds, before he snapped out of it and went to comfort her. He stood up and rounded his desk, then sat on it so he could pull her into a hug. "Hey, you're not stupid. Weird? Yes. Clueless? Sometimes. But she wasn't stupid, and he hated that she still saw herself that way. It just confirmed his fear that he wasn't as good a parent as everyone always said he was. "Why don't you just come home?"
He understood that she was upset with him, but what good was all of this doing? She was clearly miserable.
