Ever since she had heard Will had a baby, Scout had been trying to have her own so the ache she felt didn’t impact her so intensely. She felt like a complete failure. She’d always wanted to be a mother. It probably seemed quite shocking to an outsider but that maternal instinct was extreme, but of course, her bad luck would lead her into infertility. There was absolutely no chance that she would ever have a child; the doctor had told her multiple times. So she had stopped trying, got a divorce from Will and now she was hoping to adopt. But she didn’t realize just how difficult adopting was! It was expensive and there were so many loopholes that she had to get through. It was exhausting and Scout was just about at the end of her rope.
When the adoption agency had reached out to her regarding a young woman having a baby. They wanted to set up a meeting and see if it was a potential fit. Scout was over the moon but now that she was waiting for the young woman to show up at her house, she was getting nervous. She continued to peek out of the front window to see if the girl had arrive yet. She was just about to become a nervous wreck when she heard the doorbell ring. Relief surged through her and she quickly goes to open the door, giving the young girl her best smile. ”You must be Maya...” She motions the girl inside, smiling again. ”I’m Scout.”
