Katherine Elise Carrington hails from Bridgeport, Connecticut. Growing up she grew up with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Her mother had seven kids, to say that was a huge household would be a lie, her grandmother lived with her parents considering she was an older lady and instead of putting her into a home they moved her in. Katherine was close with all her siblings, they all had their fights here and there but she was definitely close with all of them. Each of her and her siblings all had different relationships with one another, but dealing with her brothers was like a pain in the ass. She was honestly going through the struggles when she was in her teenage years and she honestly hated it. Having four brothers, who all wanted to interrogate the person that she was with like walking around with a huge thorn right in her left butt cheek. She could have honestly screamed at that point in her life.
After Kate graduated from high school she moved to New York City, New York to attend New York City University and majored in Postsecondary Education and History. Katherine had always wanted to go into teaching; it was something about helping students and being able to teach someone something new that she loved the most. In New York City is where she met her now ex-husband William Carrington who was majoring in Business Management at the time. They didn’t have any classes with one another but they came across each other when she was pledging for Alpha Sigma Tau and he was pledging their brother fraternity. Honestly, it wasn’t like love at first sight because at first she thought he was a little douchbagish the way he would just date girls and just throw them to the curb. Katherine knew that she wasn’t going to be one of those girls with him, he was every girl’s dream man and every man wanted to be him. He was smart, talented and all around good guy despite his player ways. When they were getting to know each other, on like their second or third date he asked her, ’Why haven’t you thrown yourself at me?’ At that moment she knew she should have thrown her drink at him or just walk away altogether. So instead she said, ’I rather have my own mind than to be one of those “groupies” you call women.’ And for some reason after that moment, the two of them just clicked together.
Since then the two of them had been inseparable with one another, he even came home with her to Bridgeport for her family dinners and get together when they were on leave from school. After the two of them spent 2 and half years together William proposed to her one Thanksgiving back in Connecticut. By the age of twenty-two, she had finally graduated from school with her bachelor’s degree in both Postsecondary Education and History. Instead of moving back home, she decided to stay in New York with her longtime boyfriend William who was also a college graduate a year before her who was now working in one of the big companies in New York City. She was having a job trying to find a job and she finally found one in one of the community colleges there. During the time she was working there, she and William finally got married. They were finally living together. Kate wasn’t that religious but she believed that a couple should be married before they were living with one another and so she made sure that she was married first before she did any of that.
Katerine and William had only been married for a short time when she found out she was pregnant with her daughter Roxanne. At that time she was still working at the community college and she was looking for something that would pay her bigger money at the time. The first few years of her daughter’s life it was somewhat of a struggle until she was offered a teaching position at the University of New York. She happily accepted the position as one of the History teachers that were there. It was a great to be able to teach at the school that she had once graduated from. Kate worked as a teacher up until she was about thirty-five or thirty-six years old when she was approached as being the dean of students. Apparently, she had gotten a lot of recommendations from people when they were looking for someone to fill the position. The former dean had once left the school and Katherine was so excited that she could have cried and what person wouldn’t accept a position like that. She would have been a fool to decline such an offer.
Life at home wasn’t necessarily perfect, her marriage was on the rocks and it didn’t help that as her daughter grew older she showed interested in guys. She wasn’t surprised her daughter was beautiful but it was one particular guy that she wasn’t fond her. Which so happened to end up being the father of her grandson Kayson, both her and William hated the fact that she was pregnant at eighteen and wasn’t going to school. They wanted her to be able to graduate without having worries, without kids but it didn’t work out that way. Maybe that was the reason she was pushing her daughter away from her without even knowing it. And she ended up moving from New York. Katherine wasn’t supportive and she told her that she wouldn’t help her.
Two years later Katherine found herself divorced and moving to Ashwick to pursue her career as Dean at Harding University. As well as fix the strained relationship that she has with her daughter. Maybe, in turn, she could help her out with whatever she needs. Kate knows that it’s going to be a hard time trying to get that once close relationship she had with Roxanne back again.
time heals all wounds
They say time heal all wounds, but that definitely wasn't the case for Katherine and Roxanne. Time didn't heal it, and it only made it worse. Katherine should have known that any daughter of hers it wasn't just going to go over quickly. When Kate first moved to Ashwick she, of course, wanted her daughter to just run into her arms but after the argument that they had that was blown way out of proportion on her end that she wasn't even sure that things would get better. Have they gotten better? Honestly, she's not even entirely sure. She hadn't exactly gotten over that speed bump herself because she had a habit of bringing it back up and sticking her foot in her mouth at times.
In all honesty, Katherine isn't even sure she can forgive the guy that got her daughter pregnant. She didn't want her to be a young mother and not get anywhere in life. While she had Roxanne young she was married and had a husband that was going to support her. She looked at Isaac as if he was from another planet. He wasn't good enough for her then, and she's one hundred percent sure that he isn't good for her now. Except trying to tell her daughter that will only cause a bigger gap between them. As of right now, she's building a relationship with her grandson, and hopefully, maybe she can get over the grudge that she has with her grandson's father. Especially considering Roxanne told her that he didn't even know.
That's right. Isaac didn't even know that he had a son, and she completely embarrassed her daughter and cursed him out for nothing. Katherine knows she's going to have to get this off her conscience, but right now she wants to keep it together because she might say something she doesn't mean. That wouldn't help her cause, at this moment she's the one that has to do all the making up.
